It was 17 years ago today - October 10th, 2005 - when Mickie James made her WWE debut on Raw. Mickie's debut happened when she saved Trish Stratus from an attack from Victoria in the ring.
Moments later, they were in a backstage segment with Trish Stratus and Ashley Massaro where Mickie introduced herself to Trish as Raw's newest diva. When Trish heard her name, she remembered it because Mickie's character was that of an obsessed Trish fan.
Here's what Mickie wrote on Instagram about it:
"17 years ago today my whole life changed forever. For that I am always grateful. Thank you Trish Stratus for trusting in me. For letting me dance with you. To make a bit of history. Without you, without this, I wouldn’t have had all these memories. Thank you WWE for taking a chance on a little crazy girl from Virginia that just wanted to be everything. Opportunities are given but it’s up to us to make them mean something special. Today I sit in gratitude for every moment. Every Lesson & every blessing. This is how it all began…."
From there, Mickie and Trish would go on to have an epic rivalry that would last over six months leading to WrestleMania 22 when Mickie beat Trish to become the WWE Women's Champion for the first time.
